He zip-tied bank employees and customers, stole $20,000, placed a fake C-4 explosive on the counter, and fled the scene in a customer’s vehicle. Petyoshin was later arrested on state charges after a multi-agency investigation on Martha’s Vineyard.
A search of Petyoshin’s home recovered thousands of dollars in cash, along with zip-ties, clothing worn by the robber, 57 firearms, and a large amount of ammunition. The robber’s jacket was found in Petyoshin’s personal locker at the Oak Bluffs Water Department, where he was employed. Prosecutors also discovered that Petyoshin made a cash down payment on a lease for a new Mercedes immediately after the robbery.
